As many of you will know I have been considering retirement for the last couple of years. After much prayerful consideration over Christmas and New Year I have decided that, as I will be 75 this year, the time has come to set a date. My last Sunday in the Benefice will be Sunday 19th April 2026. This means that I will be with you through Lent, Holy Week and Easter and will give me and Irene the opportunity to search for our retirement home. This year will be a big year of change, but that isn't something to fear but is a great opportunity for the Benefice.
May God bless you all.
Nigel
There are two different groups that meet monthly as a social gathering. Men’s Breakfast, meeting on the first Saturday of the month, and the Ladies’ Friday Brunch Club, meeting on the last Friday of the month.
Men’s Breakfast gathers in the Hall at 8.30am for a full cooked breakfast and an array of interesting speakers.
The Ladies’ Friday Brunch Club meets at the Hildreth’s Café at 10.30am for a natter.
If you would be interested in joining either of these groups, please let the clergy or wardens know and they can pass your details on to the relevant organisers.
Our next Family Service is Sunday 1st February, 9.30am. As it's the first Sunday of the month, we will also be having breakfast in the Hall before the service - so come early for bacon and sausage rolls!!
Candlemas is when we celebrate Jesus' presentation in the temple, and was traditionally the time when the church would bless all the new candles.
There is a fun craft for youngsters at the front of church, and all are invited to take part in the service reading, doing the intercessions, ringing the bell - there is a job for everyone of every age!!
We will also be announcing the winner of the ART COMPETITION!! Entries in by 9.20am. For more information, contact Frances families@htprestwood.org.uk.
Our next Craft & Praise is Saturday 7th February, 3pm-5pm. We'll be celebrating God's love for us! There will be 6 awesome craft activities, cake and refresments, and ending in informal worship. Donations taken on the day. For more information and to book a place, email Frances on families@htprestwood.org.uk.
On the 7th of January the Vacancy in See Committee opened its consultation seeking views from across the Diocese. The next stage in the committees role is to create a Statement of Needs, this will set out information about the Diocese, including its hopes and challenges, and what people have told them is important to them in a new Bishop. This is where you come in, you can either answer the short survey here: https://oxford.anglican.org/consultation. Every voice matters and will be heard. If you would prefer to complete an offline version there will be printed copies in each church. All responses remain anonymous.
We are in need of some volunteers to help at three of our weekly clubs. The more volunteers we have - the less often you are likely to need to do it.
This includes:
Sparks Club | Mondays, 11.45am - 12.45pm | Prestwood Infant School
Light Club | Thursdays, 12.15pm - 1.15pm | Prestwood Junior School
Toy Library | Thursdays, 9.30am - 1pm | The Annexe
If you would like to help with any of these then please speak to Frances.
We work in the community with Acts 435. Acts 435 is a giving website that allows people to give money directly to others, and 100% of what is donated via Acts 435 goes directly to those in need. When so many people need so much help giving to charities and good causes can sometimes feel overwhelming and hard. Acts 435 puts people who want to help in touch with people who are in need, through a network of churches and local charities. Acts 435 enables virtual, online giving for specific needs.
If you would like to be notified by email when a local Acts 435 is made by us, please let one of the clergy know.
After a thorough audit and the submission of our paperwork to the A Rocha Eco Church Awards Scheme Holy Trinity, Prestwood has been awarded the Bronze Eco Church Award. This scheme is our church's primary means of addressing the climate crisis through the PCC's Climate Strategy. We are now working on achieving the next-level Silver Award.
Help us respond faithfully to the climate and nature crises! Join us in reaching the Silver Award!

More than 1.7 billion people around the world are unbanked and can’t access the financial services they need. Kiva is an international nonprofit, founded in 2005 in San Francisco, with a mission to expand financial access to help underserved communities thrive. They do this by crowdfunding loans and unlocking capital for the underserved, improving the quality and cost of financial services, and addressing the underlying barriers to financial access around the world. Through Kiva's work, students can pay for tuition, women can start businesses, farmers are able to invest in equipment and families can afford needed emergency care.
We have had a team on Kiva for about ten years. In that time we have:
Currently there are 15 team members. You can be one of them! By lending as little as $25 on Kiva, you can be part of the solution and make a real difference in someone’s life. 100% of every dollar you lend on Kiva goes to funding loans.
